I haven't done a big piece like this for a while and was ready for a size change. I'd been working pretty small and those paintings seemed to be looser, but then when I would work larger it always tightened up on me. I used a lot bigger brushes and forced myself to work everything as a whole and not to get stuck in one area. I used a very limited palette so I could concentrate on my brush marks, texture, and value.
